Convert VM from VM Workstation to ESX / ESXi

Importing and exporting virtual machine from a VMWare ESX Server host requires converting that virtual machine’s .vmdk file(s) from one format to another.
Although the underlying technologies work the same, the formatting of the VMDKs differ.
You have 2 options:
1) If you have a running copy of workstation, simply use VMware Converter as you would for any normal conversion, treating the VM as you normally would a physical host in a P2V
2) If you have no working Workstation, you can clone / convert the vmdk at the command line – as I have a fully ESXi lab to play in, I don’t have Workstation running on any machines in my office – as such, when IBM recently supplied a VM for a demo . . that had been created on VM workstation, I had to import it. I used the following process.
Firstly, get hold of an SSH tool ( I use putty)
Next, open a connection to any host that has the storage containing the vmdk presented
In ESX / ESXi, this will be in /vmfs/volumes/
Note: the destination path /dest/folder/vmserver1.vmdk should not contain any existing files with the name ‘vmserver1.vmdk’. If it does the file will be overwritten.
Importing Virtual Disks from GSX Server and Workstation to ESX Server
Before an ESX Server can run a virtual machine created on a different version of VMWare, the virtual disks must first be converted to a format that can be read by the VMFS file system. This is done by running the following vmkfstools command:
vmkfstools -i /.vmdk :.dsk
is the name of the folder from which you are importing from
is the name of the virtual machine file(s) to be imported
is the name of the VMFS partition you are importing to
An example of a complete command would be:
vmkfstools -i /vmfs/volumes/CLRLAB001T1/vmserver1.vmdk /vmfs/volumes/CLRLAB001T1/vmserver1_new.vmdk

What Makes a Good Online Media Kit?

Online media kits are helpful for a number of reasons:

• They're usually up to date.
  
• They can be interactive -- with live demos, examples, and searches.
  
• The contact information is usually a click away.
  
• They make it easy to get information in a hurry.

Recently, I performed an experiment for one of our clients who is developing an online media kit: I visited several random media kits, and I wrote down what I liked about them and what I thought could be improved. The final result was this list of "golden rules" for creating an online media kit:

• Make your media kit easy to find. The standard practice is to include a link at the bottom of the homepage (or as a side frame) that says "Advertise" or "Media Kit."
  
• Keep the media kit simple. Stick to the basics: "Contact Us," "Site Overview," "Audience Profile," "Rates/Specs," "Targeting Options," "Examples/Success Stories," and "FAQs."
  Here is an example of a simple, yet effective online media kit [Web page no longer available --Editors, 03.28.2008]. The entire media kit is above the fold in fact, it is all on one page. This makes it easy for a media planner to find what they need quickly.
  
• When naming the sections of your media kit, avoid copy that is vague or unfamiliar. For example, I recently found a media kit with a section called "AdBroadcast." It was devoted to wireless ad opportunities, but it was difficult for me to know that from the headline.
• Make the "Contact Us" button clear and above the fold. This area and the rate card are probably the two most important sections of the kit. The best media kits offer a live person's name, phone, and email. If you have several sales contacts, make it clear who the right person to contact is by geography or by ad type.
  
• Offer many different ad options cost-per-click banners, email newsletters, wireless ads, etc. For each option, there should be a clear guarantee of the number of impressions. While many sites guarantee banner impressions, it is sometimes difficult for a media planner to get guarantees for sponsorships, emails, and other "beyond the banner" advertising.
  
• Give a clear explanation of the different kinds of ads and targeting options available. Some advertisers won't know the difference between an email ad, an advertorial, and a sponsorship explain it to them. Offer graphics wherever possible.
  "Your Ad Here" really helps a media planner visualize the ad placement on your site. For example, here is a media kit that shows all of the different banner sizes that they offer [Web page no longer available --Editors, 03.28.2008].
  
• Avoid lots of "fluff" about why "we're the best." The best way to speak to a media planner is in numbers for example: your click rates vs. the industry average. As a general rule, the site should speak for itself, and the media kit should serve as a guide for all of the different advertising options available.
  
• Put the rate card up front. Many times, this is the only thing that a media planner cares to see. (Some sites deliberately try to hide their rates this is a major no-no.) Offer different rates depending upon the volume of the buy and include the "fine print" at the bottom whether prices are "net" or "gross," billing/cancellation policies, ad serving policies, and so on. Finally, make sure the rate card (and other areas of the media kit) can be easily printed, preferably in a single click.
  
• Present case studies and make sure to include visuals wherever possible. Quantify your case studies in terms of click rates, and (even better) in terms of results beyond the click, such as final sales or registrations.
  
• For sites that often sell out of inventory it would be nice to have instant access to that month's availability. I've never seen this done before (maybe it's too difficult to keep updated), but it would make a planner's life easier.
  
• Give a quick demographic overview of your audience with a pie chart or visuals. Take it a step further by offering in-depth audience profiles, average time spent on the site, @Plan statistical data, etc. This is useful information that can help offer justification for the buy.
• Offer a "Latest and Greatest" section like this one [Web page no longer available --Editors, 03.28.2008]. A section like this keeps the media kit interesting if you've seen it before. This idea could be expanded upon to include an area called "fire sale" or "hot deals" for inventory that you're trying to move in a hurry. This is a great way to keep media planners returning to your site on a regular basis.

In conclusion, remember that media planners are a busy bunch. The goal of a media kit should be to save them time. Probably the worst thing you can do with an online media kit is to offer no information about advertising opportunities, and instead, to provide a lengthy form to fill out and then wait several days for a response.
Media planners simply don't have time to wait; the information should be right there at their fingertips. Make your media kit a TOOL for planners to quickly gather the information they need, and they'll thank you for it in media dollars.

Backup SQL Server Database to a network shared drive

Prerequisite: The steps are applicable on machines running under “Domain Account”.

Step # 1. Map the network drive: EXEC xp_cmdshell 'net use '

Example: EXEC XP_CMDSHELL 'net use H: \\machinename\sharename'

Step # 2. Verify drive mapping:

Example: EXEC XP_CMDSHELL 'Dir H:'

Once done, you will be able to view the network mapped drive from Backup/Restore GUI.
Step # 3 (Optional). Delete the network map drive

Example: EXEC XP_CMDSHELL 'net use H: /delete'

NOTE: Only flipside is that this network drive mapping will remain till next SQL Server Service restart. So, To make above 'Network Drive mapping’ Permanent follow either of below options
Option 1. – Using Backup Device
- After completing Step # 1. and Step # 2. Create a “Backup Device” for above network mapped drive. For details refer >> How to: Define a Logical Backup Device for a Disk File

- Once “Backup Device” is created, network mapped drive will be visible across SQL Server reboot.

SQL Server blocked access to procedure 'sys.xp_cmdshell' of component 'xp_cmdshell' because this component is turned off as part of the security configuration for this server. A system administrator can enable the use of 'xp_cmdshell' by using sp_configure.

The above error clearly indicates that you need to ENABLE xp_cmdshell. Use below command:

根据目前世界上一些国家的控制高血压方面的研究成果，委内瑞拉医生德雷萨·莱昂向高血压患者提出了以下一些行之有效的控制血压的方法：

　　1.早餐时吃些甜瓜和酸奶.
　　甜瓜和酸奶矿物质钾的含量较高，有助于控制血压。一项对2600人进行跟踪研究的结果表明，6天吃含1克钾的食物，如一个土豆、一只大香蕉和226克牛奶，五星期后血压可下降4个毫米汞柱。

　　2.多喝橙汁
　　橙汁含丰富的维生素C。英国医学工作者对641名成年人的血液进行化验后发现，血液中维生素C含量越高的人，其动脉的血压越低。这些研究人员认为，维生素C有助于血管扩张。每天服用60毫克维生素C片，或者多吃些蔬菜、胡椒、柠檬和其他酸味水果，也可起同样作用。

　　3.清晨避免过度疲劳
　　一般来说，心脏病往往在早晨发作，原因之一是在上午11点前，人的血压至少比其他时间高出5个毫米汞柱。为了避免疲劳，周末尽量少参加那些令人感到疲惫的聚会。每天工作结束后，把书房或办公室收拾得井井有条，以免第二天早上看到纷乱的工作场所，影响情绪，导致血压上升。此外工作室保持窗明几净，也会使人心情舒畅。

　　4.少喝咖啡

　　5.经常吃些大蒜
　　每天吃2—3瓣大蒜，是降压的最好的简易办法，对一组415人的研究调查表明，食用600—900毫克蒜泥，平均降压11个毫米汞柱。大蒜可帮助保持体内一种酶的适当数量而避免出现高血压。

　　6.少争吵
　　根据刊登在《心理健康》杂志上的一项研究，在夫妻或非婚同居中出现意见分歧时，双方耐心地听取对方的意见，心平气和地交谈，血压会保持正常水平。相反，在发生分歧对，两人都不冷静而发生争吵，会使人心烦意乱，血压骤然升高。
　　
　　7.避免劳累过度
　　根据对195个男子进行3年的跟踪调查，减轻劳动强度可使高血压患者的血压下降10个毫米汞柱，正常人的血压下降5个毫米汞柱。

　　8.多吃鲑鱼

If you have attempted to partition a drive from Mac OS X and received a “Partition failed” message with the error “Couldn’t modify partition map because file system verification failed.” you can fix the problem with the file system check command line utility. To do this properly, you’ll need to boot into Single User Mode as well:

1. Reboot the Mac into Single User Mode by holding Command+S during boot
2. At the command prompt, type:
/sbin/fsck -fy

3. When fsck is complete, type “exit” or “reboot” to reboot
4. Boot the Mac as usual, verify the disk again in Disk Utility, and partition as usual

Smooth SSIS Upgrade to SQL Server 2012

TIP #1: Edit Package Configuration and Data Source after upgrading

The first step to upgrade an SSIS solution is to run the SSIS Package Upgrade Wizard. The SSIS Package Upgrade Wizard makes appropriate changes to package properties and upgrades the package format.
The wizard launches when you open a pre-SQL Server 2012 package in the SQL Server Data Tools for the first time. SQL Server Data Tools replaces (BIDs). The wizard can also be launched manually by running SSISUpgrade.exe, which is located under %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn.
It is critical to note that the SSIS Package Upgrade Wizard does not upgrade settings such as connection strings that are defined in the package configurations. After a package upgrade, you may need to make some manual changes to the package configuration to run the upgraded package successfully.
For example, you have an SSIS 2005 package. The package uses an OLE DB connection manager to connect to the AdventureWorks database in a local SQL Server 2005 instance. The package also uses an XML package configuration file to dynamically configure the ConnectionString property of the OLE DB connection manager. The following shows the contents of the XML package configuration file.

You have set up a machine with a standalone SQL Server 2012 installation. You move the SSIS 2005 package to the machine and run the SSIS Package Upgrade Wizard to upgrade the package to SQL Server 2012. When the wizard finishes, you need to manually change the provider name from SQLNCLI.1 to SQLNCLI11.1 in the XML package configuration file to run the upgraded package successfully. The wizard does not update package configuration files.
If you don’t update the provider name in the configuration file, the file configures the OLE DB connection manager to use the SQLNCLI.1 provider that is the SQL Server 2005 Native Client Library. SQLNCLI11.1 is the SQL Server 2012 Native Client Library. Because the SQL Server 2005 Native Client Library is not included in SQL Server 2012, the following error message will appear when you open or execute the upgraded package on the machine where SQL Server 2012 is installed:
The requested OLE DB provider SQLNCLI.1 is not registered. If the 32-bit driver is not installed, run the package in 64-bit mode. Error code: 0×00000000. An OLE DB record is available. Source: “Microsoft OLE DB Service Components” Hresult: 0×80040154 Description: “Class not registered”.
So, if your pre-SQL Server 2012 package uses any kind of package configurations, it is important to remember that you may need to manually update the content of the package configurations after you upgrade the package to SQL Server 2012. This applies to the different types of configurations, such as XML configuration files.
Connection strings that require updates and are stored in data source files or set by expressions, need to be updated manually.

TIP #2: Convert to project deployment model using Project Conversion Wizard

SQL Server 2012 SSIS supports two deployment models: the package deployment model and the project deployment model. The package deployment model was available in previous releases of SSIS and is the default deployment model for upgraded packages. In this model, the unit of deployment is the package. The project deployment model is new in SQL Server 2012 and provides additional package deployment and management features such as parameters and the Integration Services catalog. The unit of deployment is the project.

TIP #3: Update Execute Package Task to use project reference and use parameter to pass data from parent package to child package

If an SSIS package contains an Execute Package Task, the Project Conversion Wizard prompts you to update the task to use the project reference.
For example, your SSIS project contains several packages. Inside the project, one package (typically called the parent package) runs another package (typically called the child package) by using an Execute Package Task. In Pre-SQL Server 2012 releases of SSIS, the parent package references the child package by using a File connection manager. At deployment, you need to remember to update the File connection manager to ensure that it points to the new location of the child package.
In SQL Server 2012 Integration Services you can configure the parent package to reference the child package by name when the child package is included in the same project as the parent package. Using this project reference makes the deployment experience much smoother. You don’t need to remember to update the reference between the parent package and the child package at deployment. For a thorough explanation of the project reference in the Execute Package Task, please see Changes to the Execute Package Task (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mattm/archive/2011/07/18/changes-to-the-execute-package-task.aspx).
In previous releases of SSIS, you pass data from the parent package to the child package by creating a package configuration that uses the parent variable configuration type. This enables a child package that is run from a parent package to access a variable in the parent.
It is recommended that you configure the Execute Package Task to use parameter binding to pass data from the parent package to the child package. Parameters make this task easier. For example, you want a parent package to dynamically determine the number of days in a current month and have the child package perform a task for that number of times. You can create a variable in the parent package that represents the number of days and create a parameter in the child package. Then in the Execute Package Task, you bind the parameter in the child package to the variable in the parent package.

Suppose your SSIS 2008 package has an Execute Package Task, and the package uses a File connection manager to connect to a child package. You dynamically assign which child package the Execute Package Task runs by configuring the connection string property of the File connection manager.
The following is the content of the XML package configuration file used by your SSIS 2008 package.

When the Project Conversion Wizard converts the package to the project deployment model and updates the Execute Package Task to use the project reference, the File connection manager that was used to connect to the child package is no longer used by the Execute Package Task. To continue to dynamically determine which child package the task runs, you create a parameter and map that parameter to the PackageName property of the Execute Package Task as shown in the following image.

TIP #5: Convert package configuration to parameter when possible

Parameters are new to SQL Server 2012 Integration Services and are the replacement for package configurations. You use parameters to assign values to package properties, whether at design time or run time. The values are pushed to a package when it is executed rather than having the package pull values from the package configurations.
The Project Conversion Wizard prompts you to optionally convert package configurations to parameters. It is possible that you might choose to keep a package configuration as an intermediate step of upgrading to SQL Server 2012. When your package has both configuration values and parameter values, it is important to understand the order in which these values are applied. Package configuration values will be applied first. If there are also parameter values for the same properties, these values will be applied next and will overwrite the package configuration values.

备份和恢复 Windows 8 的激活信息

备份方案的最简单描述就是：”C:\Windows\System32\spp\” 下面的 “store” 文件夹是唯一需要备份的数据。
请注意：”store” 文件夹及其内部数据可能是隐藏的状态，请选择文件管理器菜单 “View – Hidden items”。然后确认你能看到如下数据：

"data.dat" (隐藏文件)
"tokens.dat" (非隐藏文件)

　　一、所得税，分个人所得税和公司所得税。个人所得税包括联邦税和省税两部份，指联邦和省政府对在纳税年度居住在本省或从本省取得收入的个人应 纳税所得课税。它是一种累进税率制，不同收入段适用不同的税率，每年联邦政府和省政府会对收入段和税率作小幅度调整。与此同时，联邦和省政府还分别规定了 一个个人免税额。2003年度个人所得税税率表如下：

通过*.vmdk 恢复Esxi虚拟机文件

以下是vmware 恢复详细步骤：
1.用ssh 登入ESX 主机或者用显示器登入主机
2.进入.vmdk 文件的目录  一般目录如下：
cd /vmfs/volumes/myvmfsvolume/mydir
3.查看当前vmdk 文件的大小。命令如下：
# ls -l vmdisk0-flat.vmdk
-rw------- 1 root root 4294967296 Oct 11 12:30 vmdisk0-flat.vmdk
4.使用vmkfstool 创建新的虚拟磁盘
# vmkfstools -c 4294967296 -a lsilogic -d thin temp.vmdk
5.默认会生成两个文件，删除temp-flat.vmdk 文件
# rm temp-flat.vmdk
6.把新产生的vmdk文件，重命名为原来的文件。如下，假设我的虚拟文件为vmdisk0.vmdk
# mv temp.vmdk vmdisk0.vmdk
7.编辑新产生的文件，如：vmdisk0.vmdk 注意，我标注的颜色的地方需要修改。
